If, like millions of people, you suffer from either aging skin, scar tissue, blemished skin, stretch marks, any dry, dehydrated skin or any skin complaints, there are some simple ways of successfully alleviating these conditions.

Our Skin ages because of either intrinsic or extrinsic aging. Intrinsic aging is due to our age and genes. As your skin becomes less elastic, gravity and even a frequently used sleeping position can cause wrinkles and lines. Extrinsic aging is brought about by our environment and our exposure to the sun. Dry skin can occur for a variety of reasons, your local environment is a common cause. Many find that if you live in drier areas, such as a desert or during wintertime, the lack of humidity in the air can exacerbate the problem. Smoking can also have a significant negative effect on your skin, quitting at any age will have a positive effect upon your skin and every single other aspect of your life.

Showering and bathing in chlorinated water is also a good example of extrinsic aging, as chlorine has a drying effect on our skin. This can be avoided by using a whole house granular activated carbon water filtration system (see the link below for further info) to remove the chlorine and chemicals from our household water.

Spending time in the sun without adequate protection is certainly not recommended, but even using sun cream or its like will not stop dryness occurring. If you are someone whose oil glands are not producing enough lubrication, again, you can expect dry skin.

Eating a balanced diet with plenty of vitamin A and C, drinking at least 8 glasses of water and the, now almost obligatory, avoidance of junk food, caffeine and alcohol will help to keep your skin hydrated. Ionised, alkaline, anti oxidant water (follow the link below and go to the ioniser page for extensive further info) can be a major step forward in ensuring that your body has good hydration, as it causes the water molecules to form smaller clusters, enabling, amongst a multitude of other benefits, better cell hydration.

Hormones brought on by pregnancy, rapid skin tightening, various medical conditions, genetics and obesity can all cause stretch marks. Of course, you will be more susceptible to them if your skin has lost some of its elasticity. Keeping the skin well hydrated by drinking water can help, as can applying moisurising products.

Scars, including those caused by acne can be treated by applying the correct type of product that can reduce free radical formation and promote collagen production.

By applying Tissue Oil and combining it with a Vitamin E Cream, many people notice dramatic improvements to their skin condition/complaint.

Clinica Tissue Oil is a unique blend of essential natural oils which soothes and nourishes skin and nails. This next generation oil is superior to other well known formulations that you may have seen or used. Being a Tissue Oil, it is very easily absorbed and will rejuvenate damaged skin cells, promoting their production. This will tighten the skin making it firmer and more toned. It has excellent wound healing properties and will even promote healthy regeneration of scar tissue.

This oil has excellent wound healing properties and will help to reduce skin dryness, premature wrinkles and skin aging. It will increase your skins moisture content, making your skin feel softer and smoother. Your skin will become firmer, more supple and the texture of your complexion will be refined. It protects against skin cancer and other marks and blemishes. It even helps with eczema and other skin conditions.

It will promote the formation of collagen, for skin toning whilst fighting sun damage. The Coconut oil extracts contained in Clinica Tissue Oil have anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. It is excellent to use for prevention of stretch marks as a “before and after” pregnancy massage oil. With regular use, your skin will regain elasticity, tone and its natural balance of oils and moisture.

I recommend that you combine this with Clinica Vitamin E Cream which has been clinically formulated for dry, damaged and ageing skin. It will also help to repair damaged skin and enhance elasticity. This Vitamin E Cream is a natural anti-oxidant, which protects cells and promotes healing.

Toenail melanomas are similarly found on the skin but they are on the skin beneath the toenail or thumbnail. This makes them less noticeable especially for people who frequently wear dark nail polish. This is also the reason why most toenail melanomas are only treated or removed only when they have reached the more advanced stages of growth.

Fortunately, toenail melanoma is commonly benign, in which case a simple surgery can be done to remove the skin tumor. Since toenail melanoma is covered by the nail, the operation would require the partial or total removal of the covering nail as well.

This is all done under local anesthesia so there is nothing to worry about. With the advances in modern medicine, this surgery will only last about an hour.

The first symptom of this kind of skin cancer is a small dark spot resembling a mole. Oftentimes, a toenail melanoma is dark yellow, brown or black.

In rare cases, the spot is colorless, making it more difficult to detect. These types are the riskier ones especially if they turn out to be malignant. They can keep growing with the person not even knowing he has it.

To differentiate between a regular mole and a toenail melanoma, you will have to observe the spot for a few days or even weeks. If the spot grows in size, there is a large chance that it is in fact a toenail melanoma.

Although most toenail melanomas are benign, this is not a certainty. You need to go in for a biopsy to determine the kind of toenail melanoma you have.

Sometimes a toenail melanoma starts not as a spot but a streak, similar to the white streaks that sometimes appear on the nail following trauma. If you notice these streaks on your nails without undergoing any kind of nail trauma, you should have your nail checked as this can be the beginning stages of a tumor.

Although this condition is generally called toenail melanoma, it can actually occur in any of your other nails as well. They do appear much more frequently on the toenails and thumbnails but you should regularly check your other nails as well.

Once you begin to notice these changes in your nails, it is best to consult a doctor right away. Melanomas are still a kind of cancer, and just like other cancers, they are more easily treated if detected early. Also, since they are just like any other tumor, you will need to undergo chemotherapy and radiation in case the toenail melanoma turns out to be malignant.

Few years ago, cancer was incurable disease. But, by time we had made lots of treatments for cancer. When people think for a treatment, they are full of questions and need to know how it works. What are the benefits of this treatment? Why people are using it? Is there any side effect?

When we go for a cancer treatment, we get lots of alternatives,Radiation therapy is one of them. It is used to directly attack on affected cell.

What is radiation therapy?
This therapy is also known as radiotherapy. In this therapy, some energy (radiation) used to kill cancer cells or shrink them to stop growing. It is commonly used with surgery and chemotherapy. Radiation therapy is used, where cure is not possible and the aim is for local disease control or where the therapy has survival benefit and it can be curative. Radiation dose for each affected cell is depend on the number of factors.

Radiation therapy is used in cure of-
It is mostly used in brain cancer, lung cancer, skin cancer, breast cancer, spine cancer, uterus cancer, cervix cancer, pancreas cancer, larynx cancer and prostate cancer. It is also used in cancer of blood forming cells. Some times radiation is given to the cells which are do not have evidence of cancer. This is used to prevent healthy cell by growing cancer cells.

What are the methods of radiation therapy?
There are three methods-
1. External therapy
2. Internal therapy
3. Systemic therapy
External radiation is used at the time of surgery or at primary stage of high risk brain cancer. In this therapy most patient do not need to stay at hospital. In internal therapy we use radiation which is placed very close to the affected area, by implant. In systemic therapy we inject radiation in the body or insert it by mouth.

Is this therapy makes patient radioactive?
Before taking radiation therapy patient ask this question. The answer is that, it is depend on the type of radiation therapy you are using. External therapy will not make patient radioactive. But, internal therapy involves implant, so patient stay at hospital is needed.

Long before scientists started exploring the connection between turmeric and skin cancer, the spice had been in the medicine chest of most healers and an essential cooking aid of most households in Asia.

If the connection between turmeric and skin cancer was not known to earlier healers, it was mainly because cancer was less prevalent or less well known at the time. However, there was awareness of its use in treating skin ailments.

Curcumin, the active compound which confers the medicinal powers, can heal wounds, kill germs, and reduce inflammation. Its antioxidant powers can prevent and reverse cell damage.

In the case of skin cancer, curcumin can cause the cancer causing melanoma cells to destroy themselves. This is very different from the more common cancer chemotherapy which destroys the adjacent healthy cells also. The curative mechanism of turmeric, and skin cancer treatment requirements are thus mutually compatible.

The demands that cancer chemotherapy makes on a patient’s immune system are enormous. The patient becomes extremely vulnerable to infection, loses hair, loses appetite, and becomes nauseated.

In the interaction of turmeric and skin cancer treatment, these types of problems are avoided. Rather than damaging the immune system, it is boosted instead. The exact mechanism through which curcumin interacts with cancer cells has not yet been fully worked out, but it is accepted that there is an effect in combating cancer.

Turmeric is not just useful in skin cancer treatment. It is also useful with regard to heart conditions, bad cholesterol and can improve the functioning of the liver. Improved liver function helps prevent the spreading of cancer. It is these myriad health benefits that makes it worthwhile to include turmeric among one’s tools for sustaining good health.

It is usually best to take a multi-ingredient health supplement which contains other supportive nutrients, minerals and factors. A multi health supplement with up to 95% unadulterated curcumin content can provide users with all round health benefits. In addition, when combined with the black pepper extract known as piperine, turmeric is better absorbed into the body and works as a shield against many infections.

I do take a multi-ingredient supplement containing among other components resveratrol, ginko biloba, lutein, multi-vitamins, zeaxanthin, trace elements and many other components whose total exceeds 70.

Most adults knows someone with skin cancer who’s lived to tell about it. There are many kinds of skin cancer that are curable by surgical excision. However, there is one you don’t want to miss: malignant melanoma.

A suspicious mole is usually the first clue to malignant melanoma. But what makes a mole suspicious?

Many, perhaps most people have a mole or two, often since childhood. Some people have dozens to hundreds. The typical mole that appears in childhood or young adult life is flat or slightly elevated and of a uniform color (flesh colored, tan, light brown, medium brown, dark brown, rarely black). The color of the mole depends somewhat on your underlying skin tone. Darker-pigmented individuals, that is, those with more melanin in the skin to begin with, are more likely to have darker moles. Also, the shape of benign moles is generally symmetric, with a smooth border.

A mole suspicious for skin cancer may exhibit the following characteristics:

It may occur in people who have a family history of malignant melanoma (but not always)
It is enlarging.
The color is changing, becoming darker or more uneven.
The border has become ragged or irregular.
The shape is no longer symmetric.
The mole develops itching or bleeding.

One mnemonic for remembering the above is ABCDE

Asymmetrical
Border is irregular.
Color is not uniform (however very light-skinned individuals may have very light-colored melanomas)
Diameter is greater than 6 mm (although smaller moles may also be malignant)
Enlarging (or evolving, or elevating)

Do you have 75 friends? One of them will develop malignant melanoma during his or her lifetime, according to the journal, American Family Physician (Nov. 15, 2000). If the cancer is detected early, it can be surgically removed with little chance of further disease.

However, if the cancer is detected late, after it’s already spread, odds of long-term survival are only 5%, even with chemotherapy.

What can you do to protect yourself? Keep an eye on your moles and show any suspicious lesions to your doctor. Stay out of the sun, particularly in mid-day. Wear a hat (especially you baldies) and use a sunscreen with at least SPF against UVA and UBV. Lastly, avoid tanning beds – that includes the pretty young women reading this article.

The orchid family is one of the largest groups of floral plants in the world, growing everywhere except in Antarctica. It has close to 35,000 species and more than 100,000 hybrids. That makes it one of the most diverse groups of plant with numerous shapes, colors, sizes, fragrance and stunning patterns! With various orchid information around, we can learn and reap the benefits this exotic plant has to offer.

Doctors and psychiatrists may encourage gardening as an activity that will help remove tension. According to some research, caring for orchids or other plants help divert the attention from stress and anxieties. This acts as a channel to focus negative energy to something worthwhile. This energy is then transformed into a more friendly and positive caring energy. It is really amazing to see how taking care of simple things like orchids, flowers and plants can affect the human body as well as the mind.

Planting orchids in the garden or inside the house is one way to inexpensively beautify your home and garden. It enhances the natural beauty around you and perks up your surroundings. With the bright, wonderful colors and various beautiful patterns of the flowers, you don’t need other sculptures to beautify your garden or home.

Orchid information tells us that we get vanilla extract from orchids. Besides vanilla, there are other foods derived from orchids. These are common in Asia Minor.

The Early Purple Orchid, Orchis mascula, are ground to a powder and used to produce hot beverage called “salep” used in Turkish ice cream. Salep pudding is a popular desert derived from this orchid.

Orchid flowers are made into tea. The flowers of Dendrobium chrysotoxum are traditionally collected in April and are fast dried and sealed. These wild orchids are said to free a person from nightmares. It is also prescribed by local Chinese doctors to lower blood pressure and guarantee trouble-free sleep.

There is no doubt that the Chinese were the first to cultivate and describe orchids, and the first to point out its medicinal properties. One Chinese medicine made from orchid is called “Shihu,” which is derived from several Dendrobium species. Their suggestive uses are for indigestion, rehydration, as anti-pyretic, help increase white blood cells and reduce fidgeting. The Chinese uses it for stomach and lung cancer, since it is believed to create anti-cancer activity for the stomach and lung cancer cell lines.

In conclusion, besides being beautiful to look at, orchids can provide us with practical benefits such as source of food, beverage, a decoration to a garden or inside the house, as medicine, a source of skin care and beauty and as a relaxing hobby. There are more benefits you can learn about this plant as you seek for orchid information.

In order for you to enjoy the benefits of this exotic plant, start your own little garden of orchids, outside or inside that house for it will surely bring you pleasure as you care for it and reap its remarkable benefits in the future.

A wrinkle shield is an antioxidant-rich solution that helps protect your skin from free radical damage, one of the primary causes of facial aging. Most of the shields on the market contain a sunscreen ingredient. The benefits of that ingredient are “iffy” at best.

Sunscreens are meant to be reapplied at regular intervals as long as sun exposure is ongoing. The SPF rating is the sunburn protection factor. The only known benefit of sunscreen is to protect against burning.

It has been said that regular sunscreen use may help prevent skin cancer. Even that benefit has been questioned. Researchers have noted an increased incidence of malignant melanoma among regular sunscreen users. Why this is true is unclear?

It could be that people rely too heavily on minor sunscreen ingredients included in daily moisturizers. They think they are protected when actually they are not.

It could be that the chemical sunscreens penetrate into the skin and cause free radical damage. In addition to causing skin aging, free radical damage also plays a role in the development of cancer. For example, one of the commonly used sunscreens is benzophenone. Benzophenone is chemically related to benzene, which is a known carcinogen.

So, this is why the benefits of the daily use of a sunscreen are questionable. Antioxidants are a better choice if you really want a wrinkle shield. There is no question about the benefits of antioxidants. But, some are, of course, better than others.
One of the highly advertised products on the market contains gingko biloba, green tea and vitamin C. It does not contain coenzyme Q10.

A cream containing nano-particles of coenzyme Q10 has been proven to reverse wrinkles and sun damage. So, not only would that count as a wrinkle shield for prevention, it would improve your appearance, too.

Grape seed extract is a good ingredient to look for. So is natural vitamin E. The active form of the protein keratin is definitely something that you’ll want. It stimulates the skin’s natural rejuvenating powers.

Ingredients to avoid include parabens, fragrances and added colors. Those ingredients provide no benefits and they may cause allergic or adverse reactions. The added colors may be contaminated with lead. Lead has been found in a number of cosmetics, even lipstick.

Many men are concerned that if they have a vasectomy they may be at an increased risk for prostate cancer. What does the research really show? Is there a strong correlation between vasectomies and prostate cancer?

Over 50 million men throughout the world have had a vasectomy, one of the most common methods of contraception for men. This is a very common procedure for men over the age of 35 (almost 17 percent of men over 35). Doctors perform over 500,000 vasectomies annually in the United States alone!

A vasectomy procedure is a very simple outpatient surgery procedure that involves blocking or severing the vas deferens which delivers sperm to the semen. Semen without sperm cannot impregnate a woman. Usually the procedure can be performed in the physician’s office without the need to visit a surgery center. Only a local anesthetic is necessary and some men even choose to watch as the procedure is performed! A vasectomy is a safe, low-risk, low-cost contraceptive procedure.

Because the number of vasectomies performed is so large, researchers are concerned if there is a link between vasectomies and prostate cancer risk. If vasectomies are related to an increased risk of cancer in the prostate, then the world needs to prepare for a prostate cancer outbreak!

A Small Hint Of Risk Associated Between Vasectomy And Cancer Of The Prostate
In the medical community a vasectomy is considered a low-risk medical procedure with very little cause for concern except for infection control issues associated with any outpatient surgical procedure. However a few decades ago, a handful of large medical research studies were performed. When the data was analyzed there seemed to indicate a small, but significant positive correlation between vasectomies and cancer of the prostate.

Looking Closer At The Link Between Vasectomy And Cancer Of The Prostate
In 1993 a conference was held by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Developement to further investigate the link between vasectomy and cancer of the prostate. All data from the large studies as well as published and unpublished data was thoroughly reviewed by the researchers.

Their determination? The research results were inconsistent. They went on to explain that they could not give any biologically viable reason for why vasectomies could cause cancer of the prostate. However, to be on the safe side, they concluded by saying that even if a vasectomy does increase prostate cancer risk, it is an extremely small risk.

Since 1993 other scientific research panels have come to the same conclusions. The National Cancer Institute held a committee meeting in 1997 to review the most updated cancer research and they concluded that the correlation between prostate cancer and vasectomy was weak.

Even today researchers are still examining the potential correlation, but very little has changed in over a decade. There is “no real association between vasectomy and prostate cancer” according to Dr. David Chen, MD and professor at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia.

What Men Need To Know About Vasectomy And Prostate Cancer
Without regard to what you may have heard about the research, the most important thing to remember is that a vasectomy is a safe outpatient procedure – and the risk of prostate cancer should not deter you from having a vasectomy. Vasectomy is one of the simplest, safest and effective permanent contraception procedures and it does not increase risk for prostate cancer.

While many people recall seemingly endless hours outdoors soaking up the sun’s rays, sunbathing isn’t as carefree an activity as it used to be. These days, there’s more to worry about, such as premature aging, scarring, blemishes, and skin cancer. There are three types of ultraviolet or UV radiation: UVC, at 100 to 290 nm, UVB, at 290 to 320 nm, and UVA, at 320 to 400 nm. It is the UVA and UVB rays that are the most harmful to our skin. UVB is easier to protect against than UVA, but both cause very real damage.

There are also those who desire quicker results than what natural sunlight offers. For such people, sunless tanning is an alternative. Sunless tanning refers to the process of attaining the appearance of a tan by using such products as lotions, sprays, powders, pills, and tanning beds. The efficacy and results of these methods vary.

The body has its own way of protecting us from UV radiation. Our skin protects us from UV damage by producing melanin, a substance that absorbs the harmful rays in order to protect our DNA. When the body produces melanin, our skin darkens, taking on a darker appearance. This is how we tan.

A sunless tanning booth is a small room where the client tans by either receiving a spray tan or by using a tanning bed. Tanning beds are controversial, particularly for their use among teens, because of concerns about the risk of developing skin cancer from their use. While the tanning beds used to work using UVB rays, salon owners switched to using beds that emit UVA rays, believing them to be safer. Sadly, it is UVA rays that are associated with development of skin cancer.

Another kind of sunless tanning booth is much safer: The tanning spray booth. Currently, spray tans are found at high-end salons and can run up to $100 for a few one-hour sessions. A sunless tanning booth that uses spray instead of a tanning bed works via use of a spray containing dihydroxyacetone (DHA.)

DHA is applied in a fine mist to the entire body of the customer. DHA reacts with dead skin cells on the surface of the body, causing them to turn brown. Most tanners who use the spray method report good, realistic results and excellent coverage. The spray-on tans last five to seven days, typically.
